Notes

Great day. Sun. This is what being warm feels like! We found a great bench and stayed all day. Pulled out 2 rainbows on scuds. very fun. think wade fishing is the bomb. much more connection with the river that way, it seems. so many boats went by, it's unbelievable, but not too bothersome. watched an old farmer on the opposite bank - no stinking waders for him, just jeans and a big cowboy hat. light, graceful loops, and he pulled a few out, stayed as long as we did. wonder what he thinks of all these yuppie-types with their high-tech gear and boats? at dusk, the midgies came out HEAVY. fish rising, tried some griffiths, had one take for a nanosecond....it was gone. another rose to my fly (or something real close by? of course it was mine!) full open-mouth head shot, beautiful, but no go. awwwhhh. 30ish minutes of dries and a walk back to the car in the half-light with sandhills warbling and owls hooting...pure heaven.
