Notes
This is my first time to fish Lava Lake and I was very impressed. The scenery is great and the fishing was great. I put my boat in next to the lodge and headed N.E. about 500 yards south of Velvetta Point. I was using ultra light spinning gear fishing a worm under a bobber. I anchored in about 15 feet of water, and fished the shore. It took about 10 minutes and I caught about a 14 inch rainbow. Within the next few hours I caught four more trout of respectable size. I noticed some fish hitting the surface, but I couldn't tell what they were after. There were a ton of mosquitos out, so put on a #18 mosquito pattern. It took about 10 minutes to find a fish that I actually missed on the hook set and foul hooked him.
