Notes
Eric, Joe and I started floating a little before 1pm. We ended up floating through some side channels and passed most of our party. Most other boats we were with stopped periodically at the islands in order to wade and fish the riffles. We ended up blasting through there thanks to the high water, just fishing from the boat, and before we knew it we were a long ways downstream. We ended up lounging much of the late afternoon while we waited for everyone to catch up to us.
Fishing was "eh". I tried fishing a hopper for awhile without any success. I fished a streamer and caught a couple cutthroats, but that was it. We only stopped and wade-fished a couple spots. In retrospect, we would have done much better if we had stopped several times in the upper stretch.
At the end of the day, we found that one boat had done well with chernobyl patterns, which we hadn't tried. Another boat did decent with a "triple double" - basically a renegade with one more section. There definitely wasn't a strong enough hatch in the afternoon to bring any fish up consistently.
